I've recently realized that one of the worst things I know is when people say they are going to do something and then they don't follow through - or even communicate that they are not going to be able to follow through.
So I started investigating myself to see if I do the same thing. I think I do to a certain extent... Like backing out of doing the St. Lucia party at our house - but I sent an email out saying that I wasn't going to be able to do it. Or promising that I would finish something on a certain date and then not finishing on time.
Thus, my resolution for the day is to follow through. This means saying no to things that I am not going to be able to follow through on. That will be hard. I need to practice: "No, I'm sorry, I will not have time to do that until 2008." "No, I am not going to be able to do that. Did you check with XYZ person?"
Practice makes perfect. Or so they say. I just ordered pizza online. It was fun. Took probably twice as long as calling in the order and then I got a confirmation call anyway. So much for avoiding phone conversation.
