Getting organized!

Lately, I've been spending a good bit of time trying to organize every part of my life to be as efficient and productive (and hence maximize free time) as possible. I'm getting some good advice from Zen Habits and coming up with stuff on my own as well.

Today, I got my personal email down to 5 emails in my Inbox. These are all recordings my mom has sent me from our childhood that I still need to listen to when I'm in the right frame of mind for that. These recordings are so much fun that I want to make sure I get to enjoy them properly.

Anyway, next, I want to get my work email down to zero. My goal is to achieve this by the end of the month. I think it's doable. I am trying a new trick when it comes to email which is to check email only 2-3 times per day and do batch processing. It's so distracting to have new emails pop up on the screen every 5 minutes. So far it is working pretty well.

I'll be writing a lot more about these things coming up... I'm definitely on a Simple Living kick that will hopefully last a lifetime. It's all good!

0-In Box is a pretty awesome (and rare) feeling. Merlin Mann's 43 folders is something I can really agree with. But, boy, is it hard to do. It seems that I always have 5 or 6 that always linger... even after all the cutting. If only we used something besides Notes 7 at work. No ability to tag items means that searching is very tough.

I'm a serious fan of a clean email box. I actively try, and fail. And try again...

I had not seen that blog before. I like it!

I haven't seen my inbox empty in probably three years. I'm really looking forward to it (yes - I am an optimist).
